Dr. Larry R. Iverson, Jr., Ph.D., MBA, is the Chief Executive Officer of OPERATION SHIELD, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting our nation’s veterans and their families. A decorated combat wounded veteran and seasoned business leader, Dr. Iverson combines unparalleled military experience with a proven track record of organizational success to guide the mission of OPERATION SHIELD.
Dr. Iverson served with distinction in the United States Marine Corps, achieving the rank of Major during an impressive career that included leadership roles in both combat and operational settings. A recipient of the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, and multiple Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, his service was marked by exceptional courage and dedication, including six deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan, and various other countries.
Dr. Iverson’s academic achievements underscore his commitment to lifelong learning and professional development. He holds a Doctorate in Business Leadership from Capella University, a Master of Business Administration from Norwich University, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, graduating Cum Laude. His education is complemented by advanced military training, including the Marine Corps Command and Staff War College, Expeditionary Warfare School, and the U.S. Army’s Maneuver Career Captain’s Course.
Transitioning from military service, Dr. Iverson built a successful career in the private sector, excelling in sales, operations, and leadership roles within the HVAC and boiler industry. As Vice President of Sales, he implemented innovative strategies that increased team efficiency and drove revenue growth, consistently exceeding performance benchmarks. His tenure as Senior Service Sales Engineer was equally impactful, where his consultative approach and technical expertise resulted in significant financial gains and strengthened customer relationships.
In his role as CEO of OPERATION SHIELD, Dr. Iverson applies his unique blend of military discipline and business acumen to address the needs of our nation’s veterans. His vision for the organization is deeply rooted in his personal experiences and his dedication to service, ensuring veterans receive the support they need to thrive in life.
Beyond his professional responsibilities, Dr. Iverson is committed to mentoring and community engagement. He is an active volunteer with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Orange County, a certified NCCER Master Trainer, an OSHA Outreach Instructor, and a youth flag football coach.
