Brandon Rodriguez-Washington

Hello and welcome! My name is Brandon Rodriguez-Washington. I’m a proud veteran, father, and dedicated advocate for our veteran community’s mental health and well-being.

In addition to my operational roles, I served as a suicide prevention instructor for over a decade, working to educate and support my fellow Marines in navigating mental health challenges and building resilience. This experience deepened my commitment to advocating for mental health awareness and providing resources to those in need.

I was born and raised in New York City, spent my high school years in Puerto Rico, and joined the United States Marine Corps shortly after graduation. Throughout my 15-year active-duty service, I served in various capacities, including as a Combat Photographer and Field Artillery Chief. My time in the Marines took me worldwide, from Southeast Asia to Afghanistan, where I supported critical operations, captured history, and honed my leadership skills.

Since transitioning from active duty, I’ve continued serving in the Army National Guard. I’ve proudly contributed to my community during two California wildfire missions as a team leader and assistant leader on Type 2 hand crews, working alongside Cal Fire to protect lives and property.

Today, I’m a full-time college student pursuing my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology while raising my three wonderful children. Along the way, I’ve earned three associate degrees, reflecting my commitment to lifelong learning and personal growth.

When not working or studying, I enjoy spending time with my kids, fishing, hiking, and exploring creative outlets like repurposing furniture. I believe in the power of community, the importance of family, and the resilience of the human spirit.
